About Us

Family Speech & Therapy Services was founded in 2004 with the goal of providing quality, family-centered therapy for individuals with communication disorders and other delays.  We see clients of all ages at our Andover, Edina, Maple Grove, and Otsego clinics.  Additionally, we provide therapy to outside agencies, including schools and long term care facilities. 

We Believe

Staff

Family Speech & Therapy Services is staffed by a team of caring professionals.

The Speech-Language Pathologists are:

  • Certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Health
  • Members of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Minnesota Speech Language- Hearing Association
  • Hold a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Participate in ongoing continuing education programs

The Occupational Therapists are:

  • Registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Health
  • Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Participate in ongoing continuing education programs

The Physical Therapists are:

  • Members of the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Health
  • Hold at least a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy 
  • Participate in ongoing continuing education programs

Leadership

Owner, Melissa Lonsky, M.A., CCC-SLP, has been practicing as a speech-language pathologist for 15 years. Melissa is a graduate of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Leadership in Healthcare program.  She currently serves as the Vice-President of Communications for the Minnesota Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA).
